Dell Inspiron weird Internet Explorer Display problem....

On my Dell Inspiron 510m WXGA laptop i noticed a problem with the rendering of bitmaps in internet explorer....

The google logo should clearly look like this...

However on my display it looks more like this...

It's probably worth mentioning that I have now solved this problem.

It comes from the fact that IE has an element of functionality that tries to rescale images for high res or DPI displays.

This is not known very well because not many people use it, but Dell enable it by default on their Hi Res screens.

This lives in the registry key 'UseHR'....

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\UseHR

You should change the value of UseHR to zero and this will fix the problem.

If you are not comfortable editing the registry then you can just click this link and the change will be made automatically.

Providing you answer "yes" when prompted.

If you like you can save the file (right click - "Save AS...",) and open it with notepad to verify the content.

If you want to change it back just click this link and the change will be restored automatically.
